Cherry Vanilla Fudge

3 cups granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup light cream
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup light corn syrup
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup candied cherries, quartered

2 1/2 cups Domino Confectioners’ Sugar
2/3 cup milk
1/4 cup butter or margarine
12 ounces white chocolate coarsely chopped
1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
3/4 cup dried cherries cranberries or apricots or apricots coarsely chopped
