Christmas Tree Skirt Print E-mail
Wednesday, 07 March 2007

A Christmas Tree Skirt is a wonderful way to dress up your Christmas tree and add a lot of personality and color to your living room. Everyone knows that the metal or plastic tree stands that hold your Christmas tree up are not very attractive. A Christmas Tree Skirt will hide that unattractive tree stand and add a level of style and elegance to your Christmas tree that may be seriously lacking. Many people overlook this simple addition when decorating for Christmas. I consider it a must-have because there was always one under our Christmas tree when I was growing up.

As a child, I loved to sit underneath our Christmas tree and look up at the sparkling lights and beautiful ornaments. I always laid my head on top of the beautiful velvet and satin Christmas Tree Skirt that my mother made. My mother has made many Christmas Tree Skirts over the years but that one was always my favorite. Even though we had silly little plastic ornaments on our tree, the skirt always added a wonderful touch and made the display much classier.

If you are looking to buy a Christmas Tree Skirt, you can find them at many large retailers once the Christmas shopping season has begun. I have seen many at Target stores and arts and crafts stores. Some are fancier than others and you should be able to find one that fits your personal style. Like I said, my mother always made hers but if you are not the accomplished seamstress that she is, you may just have to buy one.

If you do want to make your own Christmas Tree Skirt, you can find very simple and easy to do Christmas Tree Skirt patterns at fabric and quilting stores. The patterns are very affordable and you will be able to find fabrics that match your home décor and are reasonably priced. All you will need is a good pair of scissors, a ruler, pen, pattern, fabric, and plenty of working space. A good sewing machine will make the process go a lot faster but you can certainly sew a Christmas Tree Skirt by hand if you need to.

A tree skirt can do an awful lot to dress up your Christmas tree. I should warn you though that once you have one, you will think that your Christmas tree looks naked without one. I do hope that many of you choose to create your own skirts because it has been a wonderful tradition in our house that I have not seen in many. Just think - you may be starting a whole new holiday tradition for your family that makes the season just a little bit more complete.
